Do you use the  Start Menu search box for searching through various programs, files and notes as well? How good it would have been if you could even search for internet through this search box? Call it a “Unified Search Box” which can help you search from windows as well as internet through a single UI control. Here is a neat trick in five simple steps:

  1. Type gpedit.msc in Start menu search box to get to Local Group Policy Editor.
  2. Select “Start Menu and Taskbar” in left pane under User Configuration > Administrative Templates.
  3. Click “Start Menu and Taskbar”.
  4. Locate and double-click the entry “Add Search Internet link to Start Menu” in the right pane.
  5. Click “Enabled” radio button in the resulting dialog box.
  6. Click “Apply” and then press “Enter”.

After applying the above said settings, you will notice “Search the Internet” link as soon as you start typing in the search box. Power to you. You now have a Start Menu search box to carry out internet search with efficacy.
