I slogged and slogged and by the time I knew what I'd been doing it had been 5 years. Welcome to today. Where you are today is because of you and you alone. If someone else did it to you, you were involved in one way or the other. And then I sat thinking, what did I do today to make my future bright? Not everyday is perfect and not everyday things turn out to be as expected.
Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun.

Here's my perfect day at work. Since I'm a professional blogger, work starts at home.
A perfect morning
A perfect day begins with a perfect morning. And a perfect morning begins with slow, tantalizing music and a strong coffee. I ease down on the pleasantly cool floor. By the time I finish with the coffee, I find myself singing along the song being played. What a bliss - it's a treat to relax and energise yourself and set the energy of the day, the mood that lasts through the day. It is this energy that makes the creative juices flow in you. How creative do you otherwise feel when you are low on energy?
With creativity and energy oozing out I'm unable to rest anymore and take to my interests - blogging. Thoughts are ripe and flowing and I have more than 5 post ideas for the blog. I jot them on the paper - I'll pick one or two to work on and the remaining rest as drafts for later. I grab my pen and a notebook (the good old peper one). Thoughts take shape into words. I then get to my computer and collect links, images, references and draft the post into my Wordpress blog. I proofread my post and count 10 before I publish. Finally I verify that the post got published - you never know when the computers turn sour at you.
- Fresh cool breeze
- Music
- Coffee
The perfect noon
Breakfast has been light since it's late morning and I like lunch a little early. Post lunch I don't feel like doing much. Two choices - fiddle with my camera the Nikon D80 (which I'm very fond of but don't get a lot of time to spend with) or get back to the computer. Generally it's the latter. Time to go through my subscriptions, email, etcetera etcetera. Afternoon is the time to rest and kill - this raises the urge to get something to do. I attempt redesigning some part of the blog or try my hand at new technology.
If hard work were such a wonderful thing, surely the rich would have kept it all to themselves.

A perfect evening
Perfect days have perfect evenings too. And for me evenings are the perfect time to hit the gym. A goodworkout means having a good time at the gym while saving some energy to last for the rest of the evening. A glass of juice, some snacks prepares me for the evening. A second shower of the day is refreshing. Time to arrange and seat ourselves in the balcony with light music and share a beer with my wife. Somewhere in between this we hum our favorite duet and enjoy the time. If it gets interesting we plug-in the Shure SM58 to the karaoke system and sing all the way to late night.

What work I have done I have done because it has been play. If it had been work I shouldn't have done it. Who was it who said, "Blessed is the man who has found his work"? Whoever it was he had the right idea in his mind. Mark you, he says his work–not somebody else's work. The work that is really a man's own work is play and not work at all. Cursed is the man who has found some other man's work and cannot lose it. When we talk about the great workers of the world we really mean the great players of the world. The fellows who groan and sweat under the weary load of toil that they bear never can hope to do anything great. How can they when their souls are in a ferment of revolt against the employment of their hands and brains? The product of slavery, intellectual or physical, can never be great.
-Mark Twain
Can you beat that?
What I didn't tell you
I checked my Adsense account about 10 times through the day. I checked my email almost twice every hour. I spent almost two hours replying to mail, answering queries in the forums. I played designing my blog for over an hour only to find out that my experimentation didn't work.
