In one of my previous posts I explained about how to power your Gmail-with an in-line image. There I explained about importing an image from your computer into your Gmail account.
Now you will learn about inserting an image from the web into your Gmail account. You can insert pictures from your Picasa or Yahoo collections too. But they should be made ‘public’ before you insert them. More about them in an other post. Now you will learn to insert an in-line imagine into your Gmail.
- Log into your Gmail account.
- Open your compose mail window.
- Place the cursor where you want to position the image within the content of your mail.
- The Rich Text Tool bar has a small icon to ‘Insert Image’. Click on it.
- You will find a window open ‘Add image’ like in the attached image, with ‘My Computer’ radio button selected by default.
- Click on the ‘Web Address URL’ button and select it.

- Paste the web URL of the image of your choice in the ‘Image URL’ address bar and click OK.
If the Web URL of the image is correct you will find a preview of the image. You can click on the image and move it to your desired location (left, center, right positions) within the message and you can also re-size (small, medium or large) the image. You can also remove the image by clicking on the remove button.
Now some of you would like to know how to add the web URL of an image. Choose the image that is from any ‘Open Stock’ photography that does not infringe on any rights.
Internet Explorer
In Internet Explorer browser right click on the image and choose properties in the context menu.
From the ‘Address’, select the URL, hold down the control button and copy it. Paste it in the URL address bar of the ‘Add image’ window.
Firefox
If you are using a Firefox browser, click on the image, select ‘copy image location’, paste the web URL in the web address bar.
Safari and Opera
Click on the image with your right mouse button, select ‘copy image address’ and paste it in the ‘Add image’ window.
Some mail clients may not display images with web URL s. Then a click on the ‘display images’ will show them.
There you have your image from the web, in-line in your Gmail message.
