Speed Up Web Site Loading Times In Firefox

September 16, 2010

Firefox owes its popularity to its speed and extensibility. Firefox offers certain hidden settings to help you tweak up Firefox. Type “about:config” in the address bar and hit Enter. You may be prompted with a warning; click “I’ll be careful, I promise”. Type “network” in the “Filter” box at the top. Tweak the following settings:

  1. Locate the setting “network.http.pipelining” and modify its value to “True” . You can do so by double-clicking the entry.
  2. Similarly, locate  “network.http.proxy.pipelining” entry and change its value to “True”.
  3. Search for the entry “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests”, change its default value of 4 and provide a value in the range of 5-8.
  4. Modify the value of “network.http.max-connections” to 96.
  5. Boost up the value of connections per server to 32 by modifying the value of “network.http.max-connections-per-server”.

Once you are done away with all the settings, restart firefox for the changes to reflect. Browse the world wide web and experience faster web site loading times.
