There may be times when you would like to clear your browsing history from the prying eyes of the others. This posts explains about deleting your browsing history in Firefox 3.5.5.
- Open your Firefox 3.5.5 browser.
- In the Menu bar go to Tools.
- In the tools drop down box, select “Clear Recent History”.
- You will find the option to ‘Time range to clear’ with default set to ‘Last Hour’ in a drop down list there. Choose any option from ‘Last hour’ to ‘everything .’ You can also click on the ‘Details’ button there and choose a specific option/s. Click on the ‘Clear now’ button. Then click ‘OK’ on the options window that is still open. Your browsing history is gone now.

Alternatively while pressing down the ‘Ctrl’ button, holding down the H key also (Ctrl+H), opens the sidebar ‘History’. The ‘View’ button provides a drop-down list with a options to choose from results sorted by ‘Date and site’, ‘Site’ and ‘Date’, ‘By Most visited’ and ‘By last visited.’ Search bar there also provides you with an option to choose the particular site that contains a specific term. From the results that appear, select the web page URL and press the ‘Delete’ button. That’s it. The history is gone. You can also select all the web page URLs in the History side bar with a Ctrl+A and delete all, by pressing the ‘Delete’ button on your key board.
Hot Tip
In Firefox 3.5.5 you can use ‘Ctrl+Shift+P’ for Private browsing. In this ‘Private Browsing’ mode Firefox does not record your history. However during your private browsing session you are ‘not invisible‘ on the Internet. More about it in a future post.
