Earlier in a previous post we covered “How to backup your Firefox profile“. Here’s how to use this backup to restore your Firefox profile to the backed-up state.
- Quit Firefox
- Locate your Firefox profile folder.
- Windows:
%APPDATA%\Mozilla - Mac:
~/Library/Application Support - Linux:
~/.mozilla
- Windows:
- Rename the existing Firefox folder (your current profile) to anything else like “Firefox-broken”. This will ensure that you don’t overwrite it and Firefox will stop using it.
- Open up the Firefox profile backup archive file that you created while creating the backup. Inside it you’ll find the Firefox folder.
- Restore the Firefox folder in the backup to the profile folder path as in point 1 above.
The next time you start Firefox it will use one of the profiles you backed up.
