When optimizing your website for speeding up page-load times CSS is one of those things that carries the maximum bloat yet goes unnoticed. If you are using the Thesis WordPress Theme have you noticed how bloated your custom.css file has become? I’m pleased to announce the Online CSS tweaker which tweaks, crunches, optimizes and minifies any bloated CSS into small code. It thus helps to speed-up page-load times. You can also paste multiple CSS files into it and it will crunch all into a single CSS code.
Some argue that CSS is cached and thus is downloaded only once. But if you are a real pro and are looking for the edge, for you what really matters is the first-impression of your site. Additionally crunching multiple files into a single code reduces the number of request that a visitor’s browser has to make to the server and wait for the reponse and the download of those files. When a new visitor comes across your site they won’t even notice a page-load delay — all they’ll see is a site which just loads swift and fast.
Now when I was tweaking my CSS using this tool, I only found it suitable to compliment it with an Online CSS Indenter and beautifier. After all what’s good a tweaked CSS if you can’t take it back, study and understand, modify it to your requirements and use again? So we built the online CSS Indenter — paste any valid CSS and it will indent and beautify it into legible code which can be studied and modified and… well crunched back for the live, production site. I hope you find use of these two tools. Feel free to leave your comments, feedback and feature requests.
