You have a photograph that you want to tweak before sending across to someone on the net; the only problem is your admin has blocked software installation on your computer. What do you do? Head on to Pixlr Image Editor. It does not require any download or installation. It works right from your browser and is cross-browser compatible since it uses flash. Pixlr is a free online photo editor with an extensive toolset that will allow you to retouch and edit images like a pro.
When you are done, click on save. It allows you to save the image in two formats – jpeg and png. Jpeg is a lossless format and the result image is smaller in size since some quality in the image is compromised. Png is a lossless compressed format and results in the exact image quality with compression. This gives you the full image quality while keeping the compressed image size low (not as low as jpeg but still). Try out the Pixlr Online image editor and find out for yourself. How do you like it?

I love to be able to use web based graphic editors, they work on any web browser (linux, windows, mac) and can be used from almost any computer without having to install or learning new software!
