Mozilla Addons launches Developer profiles and contributions

Mozilla has been working on the concept of “contributions” for quite some time. The idea was to enable developers to receive monetary contributions for their efforts. With most of the open source developers giving out their software for free, it becomes challenging at times to go without any financial contribution. Now Mozilla addon developers can actually set their addons for contributions so that their AMO page listing shows the “contributions” button and users can make financial contributions towards an addon. The feature is new and under testing thus in its “pilot” phase.

Additionally Mozilla improved the developer section by adding a “Developer Profile” sub-section which allows developers to create their public profile and show more about themselves.

So far so good but I just find that there have been too many changes on AMO in the recent times and that Mozilla should go a little slow – only a little bit.

Superb idea. Keep up the good work! Contributions might be good solution to keep developers interested in developing new features.
