Alexa Rank can be a powerful stat to boast about provided you’ve got one. However for most of the websites it is very difficult to make it to the top 100k. Alexa ranks websites using the data it receives from stats of the users using the Alexa toolbar. However a better way to notify Alexa of your site usage is to place the Alexa widget on you site itself. This makes sure that every site visit and page visit counts. I’ve been trying this for the last three weeks and have received good results.

A better way to increase Alexa rank is to install the Sparky plugin on your computer and surf the your several times I tried this with my personal domain bishwajeet n now it has alexa rank 683k n it never gets visits from guys other than me.

If your alexa rank increases means your traffic with Alexa toolbar has increased. It wont drive you more traffic but it would certainly drive you more advertisers
