Gmail — 10 Must-Know Handy Keyboard Shortcuts

Applications like mailing service or document creators extensively make use of keyboard. As the major task at using these applications is to type, at times it becomes tedious to use mouse along with keyboard for accessing various features. For these occasions, we can look forward to keyboard shortcuts to enhance productivity. Gmail also provides various keyboard shortcuts to aid you perform various activities through keyboard. Here is a list of 10 most used Gmail keyboard shortcuts.

Action Shortcut Comments
Compose Mail c Use “Shift+c” to compose in new window
Go to “Inbox” g then i Return to Inbox
Newer Mails k Moves the  cursor to newer mails
Older Mails j Moves the cursor to older mails
Forward Mail f Use “Shift+f” to forward a message in new window
Reply r Use “Shift+r” to reply in new window
View Contacts g then c Takes you to Contacts list.
View Drafts g then d Enables you to view all saved drafts.
Sent Mails g then t Enlists all the mails sent by you.
Archive e Archives your conversation from any view.

Before using these shortcuts, you need to activate your keyboard shortcuts. Move to Gmail > Settings. Under “General” tab, look for “Keyboard shortcuts” and select the option “Keyboard shortcuts on”.
