Technically speaking it's not the tab-bar. It's the padding given to the navigation-bar that is still visible in the absence of the tab-bar. When we move(d) the tab-bar above the navigation we had to set it's CSS position to "fixed" which makes it float on top of the navigation-bar. May be there's a better way to do this but I haven't found one yet.

Several bugs to be quoted for reference to other window layout issues

Bug 321595 window.maximize() lays the window over the taskbar when hidechrome=true

Bug 419292 - Resizer / Grippy / Grippie present on maximized window

Wow! That's a quick reply ;)
Sorry about the screenshots...

There's an option in Tools -> Options -> Tabs -> Always Show Tabbar (or similar, i'm using the Spanish l10n) to hide the tabbar if only one tab is open, at least it was there when i try the 3.1b2... i've unchecked it because i don't use many tabs at the same time (not usually).

And about the "resizer corner", yes, it's true. I don't know why if window is maximized and then restored the resize appears, ok that, but when maximize again the resize still there. Then, i open the Start Menu in the taskbar, and then click on the firefox's window again and.... Nothing there, it's MAGIC!!! :O

Thanks for the feedback Jorge. Seeing it coming from a person who takes their time to adapt to change, I see it as pretty positive. Now for the cons:

There are a few bugs in Firefox which are preventing reliable maximising and restore so I've had to take off the ability to maximise and restore. But this hopefully will be fixed in firefox3.1b3. So you could doubleclick on the tabbar to maximize and restore.

The resizer corner (not sure what the right word is) which you drag to resize the window shows up even in the default Firefox. That's the way it works.

F11 does definitely show the wrong things and I have to see what can be done to fix it. Guess it will be some time before I can do that.

In Firefox 3.1 the tabbar shows at all times even if you are using a single tab. This is by design.

If you find further issues or have additional feedback you may also want to include a screenshot where relevant. (else on my side I feel like shooting in the dark;) )

I recommend, in the first place, a new post outside tech support for FFChrome, because the new change (Chrome theme) will be added in AMO and more and more people will come here.

Pros and Cons (All this in my profile, or, in another way, all what i saw. Firefox 3.0.7 WinXP):
pro - A chrome-theme like
pro - less window size
pro - Keeps the last "theme" used (Firefox or Chrome-like)
pro - The menu item have none modifications or separators hidden (well, it not necessarily a good thing, but fortunately it doesn't mess with the menu)

con - There are none minimize, maximize and close button in the window.
con - The firefox's window show the resize control in the down right corner, over the clock in the Windows taskbar.
con - In maximized window (F11) i can see some empty toolbars. When move the cursor over a little one, the tab bar appears.
con - Without tabs the tab bar still use space instead of disappear. (¿is it the tab bar?)

new feature (after the RC release): add the Chrome mode in View menu instead of context menu, or maybe an icon in the toolbar.

I recently saw a white strip in the bottom of the window with a square box, like a checkbox or a tiny button where the window's border is, but i didn't found how to reproduce it.

In conclusion, its a good change... but i still (still) prefer to use Firefox default skin, not because your extensions... i'm too slow for changes, i spend more than 15 years of my life using IE :)
