I SECOND THIS!

I actually installed this add-on thinking that there will be an option for such a feature but there isn't! The way it's structured now it actually makes me even more confused... especially considering that some of the colors make the black text hard to read (a way around this would be to allow 'white text' for dark colors such as purple). There were add-ons that had this 'parent/child hierarchy' feature before but like the OP mentioned these developers haven't updated for a long time.

So please consider this option seriously, it will actually make your add-on a billion times more useful!

Btw, internet explorer had this feature for a long time now...

Colorful Tabs is all cute and sweet and stuff but for those of us that use tree-style vertical tabs it has no sensible order. It only functions to pretty-up the border of the screen a bit. However if each 'child' tab could show the same color as the parent it was opened under it would be a very useful organizational tool.

This was the scheme of the now extinct "TAB-KIT" FireFox Add-On and it was very successful. Unfortunately the developer of that program had an unfortunate occurrence in her life and is now serving hard time in a Siberian gulag.

Yes, you can use the domain based coloring scheme and use the Presets tab to set your choice using regular expressions.

I would like something like this too. I don't want all my tabs colored. I would like a context menu that would allow me to color or clear the color of a tab manually, and if I forget to clear it, closing the browser would clear all colors of tabs I've set. I really don't see the value in coloring all tabs. Most have a logo or color anyway. But for the ones that do not, for the ones "I'm losing" because too many have no color - those are the ones (and probably only a subset of those) - would I need to set a color for.

Hey...me again. So sorry for not following directions. I'm using a 64-bit laptop w/ Windows Vista (although as most of you know there are a lot of things you can't use the 64-bit with YET!), and my browser is, of course, Mozilla Firefox version 3.6.10. I don't use any Themes per se but I do use Personas version 1.6.1.

Sorry for omitting this information in my earlier post. Once again, thank you in advance for any advice you might be able to give me.

Christine :)

First, thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I was wondering if there was any way possible to make it so that ALL the tabs would have ONLY White as the Text Color. In the Options>General Tab I have the Box checked "Reverse the text color on the tabs." but for some reason it will only work with certain colors. It used to work all the time and now with the last two updates it only works when IT THINKS the color of the tab is dark enough to have White as the text color.

Again thanks for any advice you can give me. :)

Hello! I'm new to using colorful tabs, and I just love it! But sadly, there are a few concerns I have with it. My first questions is that is there a way to ONLY color certain sites (such as bookmarks) while leaving other tabs blank colored? My second question is it possible to set a default color for other sites you may not know of? And my final question is there a way to set all future blank tabs to a certain color?

Please help soon!

I don't think I was clear enough I know there is a transparency effect but it is applied to the whole of the tab including the title text, the icon and the tabs border see below

At 5 fading level text is getting less clear:
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/2868/exampleno.png
At 8 it's terrible:
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/6750/example2z.png

If you look at the default glass effects they are applied solely to the backgrounds the foreground stuff like the text is left as is. Leaving the text, tab border and icon as is looks much better.
