I've seen something like this posted over 2 years ago, it really would make colorful tabs more usefull than any other feature imho.

What I'm proposing is how Tab Kit used to function (no longer developed) when the tab bar was on top. It creates a relationshop between a tab and tabs opened from that site in that tab - parent vs child - so that colors are based on what was opened from what tab and what was specifically openen as new tab.

This is usefull because it saves you from grouping them yourselve and just follows your natural browsing.
Most feature requests can be met with other addons combined with this (tab mix plus for example), but this feature would be perfect for just this addon.

Hope to see some more development in terms of features. Keep up the good work.

In my opinion, a thin (maybe 1 pixel) contrasting-color line delimiting the active tab (to some extent similar to ActiveWindow border, in XP desktop classic style, settable in AdvancedAppearance) would fit better. If you would remember, default color of ActiveWindow was red, but user could change it (could change also the pixel width of that line) ; maybe you can make color settable.
In my opinion, this would make much more "visible" the active tab than the actual way : now the active tab has a white edge. Even if you would set it by default to be red (so with no options to the user) would improve usability : a strong, contrasting difference would make it easier to spot.

I am grateful for the work you do,

Hi,
Colorful tabs is fine. but some time the x to close the tab is not very simple to see.

It is some times very, very dificult to find the open tab.

Some other programs has enhanced this by a x on a red backgrouns.

Pehrabs it is also an idea to enhance colorful tabs with 3 Tab related enhancements:

1 a active Tab Marker (The active tab becomes special color or a special texture

2 a shortcut to point to the last open Tab by example alt-gr + t points to the last opened tab

3 a possibility to change the tabs with the <- or -> arrow keys by example alt + -> change to the next Tab on the right. .

thanks

Love Colorful Tabs -- Would like to extend it's function to include
the Bookmark Buttons that are on my pages (Multirow Bookmarks
Toolbar Plus add-on). It would be great to have my buttons multiple
colored for easy identification.

Colorful Tabs is all cute and sweet and stuff but for those of us that use tree-style vertical tabs it has no sensible order. It only functions to pretty-up the border of the screen a bit. However if each 'child' tab could show the same color as the parent it was opened under it would be a very useful organizational tool.

This was the scheme of the now extinct "TAB-KIT" FireFox Add-On and it was very successful. Unfortunately the developer of that program had an unfortunate occurrence in her life and is now serving hard time in a Siberian gulag.

I would love an option to color the tabs according to the most used color in the favicon similar to ChromaTabs Plus addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8004

I use this addon on one of my computers and the ChromaTabs Plus on another one but if this feature is implemented I see no reason to continue to use ChromaTabs Plus.

To make this feature even better it would be great to not using favicons thats too dark/bright/monochrome and in that case use the normal color-scheme.

Thanks for a great plugin!

Upon restoration of Firefox sessions with large numbers of tabs, one or more urls begin to stream media automatically. It especially happens with sites like YouTube and MySpace, but not always. It can be incredibly frustrating to try and find where the unwanted sound is coming from.

My request is to find a way to create a button which when clicked would somehow highlight the offensive noise maker(s), and bring them to the center of the browser to locate them easily. It could be shortened to an "ISM" icon/button for Identify Streaming Media...or under Tools "FSM" for Find Steaming Media.

Hi, the new colourfultabs (I am using 4.8.1.6.2) for firefox 4.0 is adding a gradient effect onto my tabs. While I understand this may be appealing for some people, it really doesn't fit in with the rest of my colour theme.

Is there any way to get rid of it, and could a config option be added to the next version to disable it for people like me?

Thanks!

It seems that this glow effect has been introduced since a couple of versions. I find it kind of annoying as tab titles are harder to read with this glow effect, specially with lighter colors (which is what I use). Could we have the option to turn this off?

Example:
