While colourful tabs is a great add-on, and my commendations to the author, the latest versions make a thin coloured line under the tab, which just takes up space and is a deal breaker for many.

The following XPI is a version where I simply deleted the code that makes the colored line and now there is no line. Oh Joy.

(there seems to be some Mac specific code dealing with this colored line that was not tampered with. So Mac users will still see a colored line.)

Have fun.

- Nash

I've used Colorfultabs and Aeon Colors with Firefox 3 on my Mac. I accidentally updated my Firefox to 4.0 and of course it clobbered Colorfultabs and AEON. Is there a Mac compatible upgrade in the works?

When using add-ons like "Speed Dial", "New Tab King", "New Tab JumpStart" or other add-ons which you use in a tab, it would be great if you could give them a specific color! So by adding "chrome://speeddial", for example, in the presets you should be able to give the Speed Dial tabs their own color! This would be very useful for me, since it has a to common color right now (I use "Generate Colors By Domain Hostname"), and I need to distinguish them quickly.

Thanks in advance!

ColorfulTabs plugin is great - colored tabs are much better seen. Unfortunately, to extend colorification to All Tabs Popup was not a good idea - it is much harder to find proper tab there now. Can you please add an option to turn All Tabs Popup coloration off?

Thanks, Yury

I know this is a new feature you put in, but its forced me to drop back a version because it just dazzles my eyes and doesn't add any usability at all.

Thanks!

Color grouping by domain is useful, but I don't think it is exactly what the user needs. I think Internet Explorer has found a good approach.

When you open a new tab by clicking (or Ctrl+clicking) on an existing page, the two tabs are given the same color. The user can easily see which tabs are related. Further related tabs will join the color group.

To break out of the color group, the user could enter a new URL or start a new (empty) tab. New pages with no relations to any others should start "uncolored" (e.g. grey) to show that they are not part of any groups.

The implementation could check document.referrer when a new tab opens, and see if it matches any existing tab or frame (likely the last one focused/active). If it matches, it would take its color, or setup a new color for both tabs if necessary.

Hi!
I'm prefere to do NOT colorize the tabs by default.
And only in a case of great amount of tabs I paint most important of them.
So by default my tabs perfectly themed, and I have very usable feature to set a color when it needs.

To do so I locked min-max settings for saturation to 0 and 1, and luminance to 80-81 in advanced settings. But this is useful only when theme is color-neutral.

What I need:
1) Option to don't color tabs by default (or select a default color at least)
2) Option of REAL highlighting of the current tab (lighter/darker) - because fading of tabs decreases readability, so I don't use fading.

Thank you for such great addon!

Hi Shivanand!

Great add-on, thanks so much for building and maintaining it!

Along the lines of saving colors from another topic in the forums how about a default bright color palette or create your own custom palette?

See attached for an example of what I mean.

Firefox 3.0.13
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.13) Gecko/2009080316 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.13

ColorfulTabs version: 3.9.3

Cheers,
Bob

I used Colorful Tabs until about a year ago, when I switched to Tabkit. Now I'm back because that plugin has become a little too bloated and with some constant issues.

OK. Here's the one thing that made me switch in the first place and that I miss in CT - The option to group tabs with the same color (by domain or if it's a followed link). The grouping then should also keep the tabs together and keep other tabs or groups from using the same color.

If this is implemented, I'll be happy as pie.

And PS - Thanks for the greatly functional Colorful Tabs!
