Preset colors for different sites of a domain
-
Sorry, I don't know the technical names of things. But at work I regularly have tabs open for gmail and for google calendar, among others. I would love to be able to assign them specific colors, but it appears that all google.com tabs would have to be preset the same. Any way to fix this? It would be amazingly useful. To complicate things, I always have 2 gmail tabs open: one is open to my inbox, and one opened to contacts. Any way to have the first one come up a preset color, and then the second one come up with a second preset color?
Thanks for the opportunity to request!

Those are referred to as sub domains. I'll work on it.

Not necessarily sub domains. Also URL based coloring will be very effective. Especially with a wide gamut of saturation and lightness when a large number of tabs are open. This will ease identification of duplicate tabs for one.
Also the tab color could be duplicated in the drop-down list of tabs on the extreme right of the tabbar.

Hi, I'm not understanding your latest reply. I know that I can manually choose tab colors to be different for identical tabs, but I was wondering if a second instance of the same tab could come up with a pre-determined different color. However, mostly I'm interested in how to set a color for a pre-determined URL. Your reply seemed to indicate that it was possible, but I only see an option for predetermined domain name, not an entire URL. I have just downloaded v3.9.4 but I don't see any obvious changes from 3.9.3, and the documentation it shows is old. I'm wondering: 1) what the changes were for 3.9.4, and if there is now support for URL-based color settings. Looking forward to this becoming a reality!
Thanks for all your work.

That wasn't specifically addressed to you... I was just thinking aloud.
The changes in the new version are
New Feature: On Demand Coloring: No coloring by default, user can set the color manually for tabs of their choice.
Fixed Domain List to allow domain list of any length.
Fixed critical bug when resetting advanced preferences
Fixed other minor bugsThe same are also documented in the release notes on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1368 bottom of the page.
