Unique choices for active tab
-
Hi,
Thank you for a wonderful Add-on.
I would like the ability to pick a unique color for the active tab so it would really stand out from the other tabs.
For example, a bright white tab would instantly tell me that was the active tab.
Other people might prefer other colors, so I would like to be able to pick a color, and only have it show up on the active tab.
Thank you!

You can edit your userchrome.css to create this effect.

Hi,
I might theoretically be able to edit my userchrome.css to create this effect, but I would not even know where to find this file much less how to edit it.
However, I am glad to know that this can be done by those who do know how.
My capabilities are more in line with a checkbox or 2 in the preferences that I could just check to achieve this effect.
In any case, I will continue to enjoy it as it is.
Thank you!

Will work on it to make it a preference. But then given that you have chosen to display the active tab in (let's say) RED. We'll have to make sure that no other tab uses it. This will get complicated.

Why not offer the choice of two 'non-colours' (Black or White) with contrasting text colours ((White or Black respectively) for the active tab? Currently the 'Tab Kit' extension offers Current Tab Highlighting in Black and it works VERY well in terms of visual contrast and instant location.

Sounds good. I think we can also set the default gray color. We can refine this further.

I'd suggest white for the tab highlighting. I use black to highlight the domain I use the most, as it's visually most comfortable to have a row of tabs in black. Not that many people are likely to want a row of tabs in white, it's harsher on the eyes, so it's better suited to being reserved for tab highlighting.

I certainly hope you folks will address this issue! I've enjoyed colorful tabs very much UNTIL the version where I can't tell which tab is the active tab. I'll have 7 or more tabs at any given time due to work. Being unable to know which tab is active by simply looking at the tabs makes my work much harder.
Thanks for your attention! I will look forward to the next version, hopefully soon. The suggestions above all sound great.

MysterZee: In order to differentiate the active tab you'll have to open up ColorfulTabs Options and explore the tab highlighting options. Many people have 30 or more tabs open and are able to tell the difference between the active tab and the others by setting the tab highlighting.
