Feature request - make the active tab blink
-
As per http://www.binaryturf.com/free-software/colorfultabs-for-firefox/#comment-39350 and my own interpretation or practicality, let's see if we can make the active tab blink on mouseover/hovering over the tabbar. This would make it easier to figure out the active tab just in case it's doesn't standout and is obvious.

I love ColorTab but am always closing the wrong tab page. I have difficulty seeing the 2 pixel line that extends away from the active tab, especially when everything seems to be pastel colored. Perhaps make the X on the active tab red, or make the 2 pixel line appear red EXCEPT under the active tab.
Thanks

Or maybe just having contrasting line as border for active tab : would make much more "visible" the active tab -- would make it easier to spot.
Even if the line on the edge would be "simply red" (so, without color choices available for the user) : I think usability would be improved.Dobozi

Are you guys using the "highlight active tab" option? I use that and make the active tab have bold text. No problems identifying it for me.

At last someone with a modicum of sense!

I checked : "highlight active tab" is set ACTIVE.
Maybe my sight is not as good as other people have.
Or maybe my “image processing CPU” is sensitive more to colors than to boldness of fonts.I was looking on some of the comments : as far as I understand, it seems that some people have high value on the 3D-like aspect of tab contour. I am not sure if this can be achieved with red color (or else contrasting color) on the edge of active tab.
But maybe an easier option to make active tab different would be to just set the active tab font (besides Bold) to a contrasting color.
I am very thankful,

I hope that somebody would be kind to advice me on this question.

I'm so glad to see people addressing this issue, with great ideas too! I have the Highlight Active Tab selected, and on my Mac Pro it's ridiculous trying to find the active tab. There is NO boldness to the font and the only identifying feature to let you know which tab is active, is the little x on the right hand side of the active tab. The active tab often gets pushed off screen too, as my sessions on Firefox require a large number of tabs. I've had some seriously frustrating browser interactions lately.
I love the Blinking idea, but it shouldn't be required to do a mouse over to get it to blink. Perhaps it could be an option? I would almost always elect to have it blink all on it's own, so that I can quickly identify the active tab.
But Even more pressing than that issue for me is having a tab that isn't active, all of a sudden start to play music, voice, some kind of sound that I don't want. The issue is or rather the suggestion I'd like to put forth is, why can't there be a way to quickly identify which tab(s) are streaming media? It usually comes about when
I restore a session with a large number of tabs, some of which are web-sites that have embedded streaming media that launches automatically upon restoration . It can happen in other ways with pop-ups that are hidden too.
Maybe there could be an " Identify all urls with active media streaming" button. It could be shortened to an "ISM" icon for identify streaming media...or "FSM" find streaming media?I apologize if people feel like I've gone off topic with this one, it felt like it fit in with the active tab theme of this thread. Should I create a new posting for this? Perhaps I will anyways.
In any case feedback would be very appreciated! Thanks for reading

To me, continuous blinking (as suggested above by MBell) seems to be not the best option ; I would rather prefer "static" differentiators (as text color, size of the "X" ; or, as I suggested, a different / contrasting color edge-border).
But if the CONTINUOUS BLINKING / versus BLINK ON MOUSEOVER/HOVERING OVER THE TABBAR could be made optional + disabled : this would allow users to personalize the way they would use this very nice add-on ; it is already very useful, and I am thankful for the work done by the builder.
