If you have any further questions just ask, good luck.

[EDIT] I'm logging off now so I don't miss Star Trek, I'll be back tomorrow though... I'm a moderator for an software related internet forum who watches Star Trek, I think that makes me a cliché geek.

Thanks everyone. We have decided to wipe the drive clean and start over with fresh installs of everything, and, hopefully, Windows XP instead of Vista. We are busily backing things up and sorting out what we really want/need from all the junk that has accumulated over the year(s).

We are very sure that it is not a virus or anything nasty like that, just too many conflicting programs and add-ons.

I still can't get programs like JAVA to STAY installed, so there needs to be a house-cleaning!

Again, thank you so much for all your suggestions. I have written it all down, and, of course, it's all here, so I can run through it again, should it be necessary after all is said and done.

    Have a great weekend! :)

I'll let you know. Meantime, kudos to all who were so kind in helping this newby. You are wonderful! .... :-*Thank you so very much.
