The latest version of ColorfulTabs is available at http://www.binaryturf.com/free-software/colorfultabs-for-firefox/. This version is almost always newer than the one on AMO (addons.mozilla.org). It is a stable build and safe for use in the production environment. The version on AMO (addons.mozilla.org) always lags behind by a few days due to the delay in review.

Beta Versions will be uploaded for testing on this thread itself. Please practice caution when testing the betas.

It works in FF 4, but it has one quirk. It adds a thin toolbar like line to below the toolbars. Although small, it does use up extra space.

Yes. Actually that thin little line has always been there but went missing in Ff 4. We had to recreate it to help users recognize the active tab. Nothing is final though.

Using the latest version of Clrtabs with FF 3.6.9 for Mac OS.

I find that when the option "Enable a background image for tabs." is Ticked but not utilized the default background image blurs the distinction between the TabBar and the PersonalToolbar. This because the colour is extremely close to that of the PersonalToolbar. Refer to Picture 2.

This is not the case when "Enable a background image for tabs." is NOT Ticked as it uses the default theme background color. Refer to Picture 1.

Can you not use the same default background color as the default theme in your extension when the "Enable a background image for tabs." is Ticked but not utilized?

I'm using the beta on Firefox 4, beta 6 and have some suggestions for improvement! :)

    - The thin line below the toolbar should be turned off when tabs are on top.
    - There needs to be an option to turn off the feature where the selected tab is larger than unselected tabs, so that all tabs (and the tab button) are the same height.
    - A small visual suggestion, perhaps the color as an option could be applied to the tab with a transparent gradient so it 'blends in' with the toolbar. (See attachment).

Great addon. I've loved it for years! :)

Just want to request the same things that mk c mentioned.

I like the idea of the gradient blending down to the tool bar. An alternate solution would be moving the colored strip up to meet the tabs when they are in the default position.

In conjunction with the selected tab indicator issue, part of the appeal of tabs on top is to be able to run the mouse cursor quickly to the top of the screen for tab selection. As it is, ColorfulTabs creates an extra non-selectable space at the top of all of the tabs, including the currently selected one. Specifically, this is with the browser window maximized. Some solution for that problem would be awesome.

I'd just like to pick up on what Dfault said about the thin colored toolbar-like line below the toolbars.
I'd like to be able to turn that off or hide it if possible, in fact I've stopped using the current release because I find that aspect of it too distracting, particularly when no tabs are open.
Also, I'd like the option to make all tabs the same size even when selected or active. I find the jump in size too distracting.
I guess overall I'm looking for options which make the addon less obviously present. All I really want from it is to color the tabs attractively and to make it obvious which is the selected or active tab. The Firefox 3+ version did that job perfectly for me once I'd played around with the options.
Thanks for all your hard work on this, I really appreciate it. I've been using it for years and it's a genuine improvement to Firefox's UI.

Version 4.8.1.4 has been released a few minutes back. Color transparency has been corrected. Also personas should appear more pleasing and see-thru on the navigation toolbar. Text shadows implemented by personas has been disabled for readibility.

"Reset color" doesn't work at the moment. The AllTabsList doesn't get colored. "Reverse Tab Color" changes the text-color of all tabs to white.

If you find anymore bugs please do report.

I use Firefox 4 and I did not like the thin colored line above the address bar in version 4.8.1.4, so I rolled back to version 4.8.1.3 - it's cool for me! :)
