Firefox — Manage And Backup Profiles With The New Profile Manager

September 21, 2010

firefox

Firefox saves and stores all your browser settings in a special profile folder. It stores all the information ranging from your home page  to bookmarks, toolbars, add-ons and personal settings that you use, in the profile folder. You can install various versions of Firefox and maintain a separate profile for them. While most of the users use only one version/profile at a time, a new profile is primarily used for testing/troubleshooting. If you have multiple profiles, you can use the Profile Manager to create and manage new profiles.

While Firefox already has a profile manager which can well assist you in creating, renaming or deleting the profiles, Mozilla is in the process of offering an all new profile manager application with some extended features. The new profile manager is a standalone application with a simple user interface for all platforms. It provides a perfect solution for managing various profiles of Firefox with New, Delete, Copy and Backup options. Along with the basic functionality of creating and deleting profiles, it adds the backup utility to result in an effective profile manager. It allows you to create a backup folder or simply archive the required profile so that you can successfully revert back to the profile in future through restoration.

Give a try to multiple profiles and manage them with “profilemanager.exe” bundled as Profile Manager Application. Remember this application is still a beta being still in development.
