Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 Beats Google Chrome At JavaScript Speed

December 11, 2008

cnet has published a JavaScript speed comparison chart benchmarking Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2. Firefox beats Google Chrome in the test though only marginally. The tests used to arrive at these conclusions are those of Sunspider. Google though uses a different benchmarking test called V8 benchmarking test.

JavaScript is heavily used by Firefox itself for the UI and on the web in general. JavaScript brings interactivity to the static html pages DHTML and Ajax being excellent examples of JavaScript uses.

Competition sparks innovation. Less lazy mozilla overseers is better for all. Hope those OLLLLD mozilla bugs get smashed instead of swept under the nearest screen {Oz}.
