If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

As you must be aware The first release candidate of Firefox 3 has been made available for public testing. I have been on vacation for the last sevaral days. I don't have continuous connectivity to check my mail but when I did I saw a lot of requests to update colorfultabs for RC1. Thus today I took out some time and updated the ColorfulTabs beta version for compatibility with Firefox 3 series.

Please try it out and let me know if there is anything that needs my attention. All the best. I will return from vacation by the month-end so till then… chill!

I'd just like to let you know that ColorfulTabs doesn't work with Personas for Firefox [http://labs.mozilla.com/2007/12/personas-for-firefox/], and I would LOVE to have them working together!

I've already asked about it on the official Firefox forum, but no-one has an answer there.

Hope you get this sorted

Thanks alot - and I'm truly loving this extension!

Hi all,
RC1 works with Compact Classic Theme and LittleFox Theme.
Still no color with Default Theme.
Thanks for your work!

just wanted to say, have updated coulorful tabs today and its working fine on my copy of FF3rc1

I installed RC1 on my Firefox 3.0 RC1 installation in XP but when running the add-on update checker in Firefox it keeps telling me that ColorfulTabs 3.0 RC1 is available even though the same version is already installed.

Perhaps the version information is mismatched between what gets installed and what is supposedly available? Otherwise everything works great from what I can tell.

I can confirm what Donavon says. :)

¿Can I sugest you an extension? You could parse the page code in search of a special tag… may be a meta in the head, indicating the requested color for the tab.

The, a web developper could select the default color for the tab.

I have been using ColorfulTabs with great success in FF3 through most the beta cycle. As others have pointed out the only flaw I see at this stage is the continual message about an update available only it's for the same version already installed. One nice thing is that ColorfulTabs in FF3 now works with the PitchDark theme which is the first dark theme I have found it to work with. Great work.

I am using FF3b5 and FF3RC1 and Colorful Tabs is not working on either for me. I am just using the default theme. I also get the update message showing for the same version that is installed.

same problem of the update mentioned by Donovan and the others.

FF 3b5,several different themes, Ubuntu 8.04

anyway, MOST BEAUTIFUL EXTENSION EVER,
compliments

One way to remove the update message is edit the install.rdf in the Application Data folder and remove the data from em:updateURL. Of course, this remove the message but avoid ColorfulTabs to update, unless you check manually.

this does not work for the mac version of FF3RC1…would be really cool if it did work with the default theme for mac

I also have the rapid update and then reupdate…

I can confirm what Donavon says too. Please fix this.
And also make default coloring algorithm based on URL (like in Chroma Tabs).
This add-on is awesome! Thank you.

I don't usually comment on the work of others, especially when they give it away, But I really like Colorful Tabs and realized how wonderful it would be it it could somehow be extended to include bookmarks, and bookmark folders.

Some of us have to keep and use hundreds of bookmarks, so the use of color tagging would be a tremendous addition.

Please make ColorfulTabs compatible with Aero Fox for Firefox 3 it would be absolutly wonderful to get both working, just test yourself: http://bodizzlethemes.blogspot.com

I need a replacement for Chromatabs which generates the colour based on the FAVICON - it's very very handy.
I miss it already :(
