ColorfulTabs 3.4 is out with some notable fixes and changes. Here’s a small list
-
Fixed Stripe generator link and functionality
The Stripe Generator can generate beautiful twin-colored stripes for you in various colors. If you like you can keep the background transparent. These stripes when set as the tab background look beautiful and compliment the appearance of the tabs.
-
Fixed tab background-image for windows vista, xp luna/royale themes
Because of theme changes, the background stripe image was not appearing on the windows platform in the vista, xp themes. It was only showing up in the windows classic theme. This has been fixed now.
-
Real-time switching of background-images without restart.
Now you won’t have to wait and restart Firefox to view the changes to the tab background strip. You can pick an image of your choice and view it real-time.

Regexed domain hostname matches
You wanted more than five domain presets. I do not have extensive experience with regular expressions but hope this feature will be able to serve your requirements.
In addition to the above there have been some minor bug fixes and changes too. Earlier the www part of the hostname was skipped and only the non-www part of the domain was matched. Technically these are different domains thus now www.domain.com will be colored different from domain.com. Of course you have the power of regex to fit your needs.
All the support requests are addressed in Binary Turf Forums provided you furnish the requisite information with your requests. If you have any feedback, it goes right here.

Firefox 3 won’t let me install Version 3.4….I get the following message:
“Colorful Tabs” will not be installed because it does not provide secure updates.
Any suggestions?
I have a bunch of extensions installed along with “colorfultabs 3.4″. I love this extension! I have eliminated a problem with colorfultabs when also having the “tor button” installed ans enables. By disabling all my extensions and then closing and reopening FireFox.3.0.1 after disabling the tor button extension and then shutting down the browser again and then reopen it again without changing anything, colorful tabs works fine. It works fine with the tor button enabled after installing, updating, and enabling or disabling an extension (or group of them). After making an extension change, the prompt to reopen FireFox is required for the changes to take effect. “Colorfultabs” works fine in this instance. It is after closing and reopening FireFox after this with the tor button extension button enabled that colorfultabs fails to display colored tabs.
I am having exactly the same problem as Helga in the first post. I tried disabling 3.3 and that was no help. I do have a few other extensions as well, but am not going to jump through hoops as Dave Brodeur did
