Colorfultabs 2.11 Released

I released ColorfulTabs version 2.11 yesterday. This version is released for the Firefox 2.x series.I’m expecting this to be one of the last for Firefox 2.x since Firefox 3 will soon go into RC. The tree has already been locked AFAIK.

There are a few changes in this release. Jean-Bernard Marcon was kind enough to localise ColorfulTabs. Thus now those interested in localising Colorfultabs to their language can go right ahead and send me the localisation. Also while doing some tests I noticed that you counldn’t turn off the preset domain colors. You could uncheck the checkbox but that had no effect. That’s fixed too. I then went throught the entire code to see if there were any descrepencies and fould none.

At this point of time, I’d strongly recommend you to download and install Firefox 3 beta 5. I’d be doing most of the development on Colorfultabs beta in the days to come. The beta version is also in the softwares section and works till pre1 (of course it’s just a matter of turning off the compatibility check now).

I hope you find the release useful and enjoy it. If you have any comments, suggestions or feedback you know where to send them :) . Right here in the comments.

Last but not the least subscribe to the RSS feed or through email. That’ll keep you updated about the latest happening here. And you don’t want to miss out on those.

Hi, just found your add-on by accident, but I love it.
Thank you.

Ryan.

Thank’s! It works good on my Firefox 3 beta 5 on Linux.

What do the “advanced options” of “saturation” and “luminence” do? I don’t see any difference in appearance when I activate then when using random colors.

Have you gone through the documentation?

A long time ago I installed colorfultabs which wasn’t then compatible with Tab Mix Plus. I was delighted to find I can use it now.

My favorite feature is the ability to set color per domain, and actually I would wish for another three of four fields.

I also would like an option to use only the custom domain colors and leave the rest uncolored, so not to clatter my tabs with many colors.
I think the nicest way to do this would be to enable truncation mark for domain names, like *.wikipedia.org to set the same colors to Wikipedia in all languages (en.wikipedia.org, fr.wikipedia.org etc.), and then * alone will color all domains not otherwise defined.

Thanks for your great extension!

hi! i really like your add on, but i’m wondering if there is any way to change the font and font color, especially the color, as the letters are very light and difficult to read. thanks!!

thuvia: Basically, everything looks good if you turn off the fading of tabs. The fading makes things lighter.

I really like your add-on, nice that it also works on Linux. There is one bug though; if I have more than 3 tabs open, I get a gray line next to the close button of an unfocused tab. This screenshot will make it clear:

Thanks!

I seem not to be able to download ColorfulTabs from this page. Why not? Or if I’m wrong, then how?

RobS, please navigate to the software section or select the appropriate link from the links on the left sidebar.

I’ve been a Colorful Tabs user for a long time, but something has changed with the recent version that I just installed on my new laptop. Running XP Pro, and Firefox 2.0.0.14

I used to be able to set the currently-active tab to display with RED text. Now, I can’t do that, and all tabs that have been auto-refreshed seem to have red text instead.

How can I change this behaviour back to the way it used to be? Having the current tab highlighted in red was very handy, especially with a lot of tabs open, some of which were different pages of the same website/domain, so that the title that appears in the tabs may be the same across several tabs. Having the current one highlighted would be good. :)

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Pete: ColorfulTabs does not color any tab with red. This may be the behaviour of another extension.

Aha!! Thank you – mystery solved! It is Tab Mix Plus that has that option – and I’ve found it and changed it. now I have the lovely Colorful Tabs colors, and the current tab with bold, underlined red text. Excellent – thanks for pointing that out.

My memory must be getting worse the older I get…. it’s not as good as I THINK it used to be…

Thanks again :)

ColorfulTabs is my all-time favorite Mozilla extension, but it no longer works with SeaMonkey. Since I use SeaMonkey 99.99% of the time, and almost never use Firefox, I’m no longer able to use ColorfulTabs and I really miss it! I’m on Linux, by the way. I sure would appreciate compatibility with SeaMonkey!

I used a SeaMonkey for a while but I came back to Fox again ;-)
